Local area description
The mile long Morgan Bay beach is ideal for ball sports such as tennis, touch rugby and cricket. The Morgan Bay Hotel holds an annual beach touch rugby and cricket tournament between Christmas and New Year. Other beach activities include swimming, fishing, kite flying, body boarding, jogging, surfing, beach soccer, dog walking, sand castle building, horse riding, shell collecting and beach combing.
The Inchara river estuary is usually closed to the sea during the Winter months, when the deeper water allows such water sports as canoeing, wind surfing and swimming.
To the south of the village is an enjoyable walking trail over the 60m high Morgan Bay cliffs, which make good vantage points for watching the dolphins frolicking in the waves below, or for enjoying sun downers. Beyond the cliffs is the beautiful “Bead Beach” at the Double Mouth Nature Reserve, where you can pick up shards of Ming Dynasty porcelain, money cowries and carnelian beads from a 17th century Portuguese shipwreck.
There are 2 horse trails operators nearby and a game reserve featuring over 20 species of wildlife. A short drive to neighboring Kei Mouth and a trip across the Great Kei river pontoon ferry brings one to the former Transkei to enjoy some thrilling excursions. The old Jacaranda shipwreck or a trip to The Gates are favourite trips amongst our regulars.
Other activities include golf, hiking, tennis, squash, lawn bowls and abseiling to name a few.
Dit was onvergeetlik. Ons het ongelooflik tuis gevoel en welkom en gaan definitief terug.
